A Selection of Clive Walley’s Tree Guards Paintings
New trees are planted in neat rows and protected by plastic tubes to stop deer and other animals eating them before they get big enough to live on their own. This “caring” function of the tree guards feels at odds with the military patterns they make, often through otherwise natural areas. This crossed nature occurred to me when I saw some new trees alongside the M3 on the way to a World War 1 memorial theatre piece in London.
